The building uses natural brick and concrete as the main external finish with minimal use of plastered surfaces in functional areas. Each façade has a different proportion of opening to effectively benefit from natural light and eliminate excessive sunlight into the house. The design attempts to reduce the use of energy by harnessing renewable sources of energy.

XOOX Brewmill
XOOX is an example of the adaptive reuse genre of architecture because, believe it or not, this space was originally a mill and manufacturing unit back in the 70s. The extension of the floor-to-ceiling height makes XOOX perhaps the most voluminous brewery in the country in terms of its elevation. What is also retained of the original building are the columns / beams. The entire space has been built in and around it.
The Pump House | Jatin Hukkeri | WDA
“The concept of a pump house is directly associated with the flow of water, and we have brought that flow into the architecture of the space,” discloses Hukkeri of WDA. “Curves are an integral part of the design of the space – be it the slightly elevated seating pods on the ground floor, the curves of a movable wall that can be lowered to bring in more breeze, or the brick-lined circular wave-like structures demarcating each of the three levels. In fact, all three bars – on the ground and higher levels, follow this circular display style.

stephenson STUDIO won an RIBA competition to design The Oglesby Centre at Hallé St. Peter’s. An extension to the Grade II listed St. Peter’s Church that was deconsecrated and refurbished in 2013 to provide rehearsal accommodation, set amidst the rich industrial heritage of the Ancoats district in Manchester.

Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, this 3,600 sq.ft. site hosted a 25-year-old single storey house. While the material palette (brick & concrete) for the exteriors of the building is carefully chosen to give it a simple, natural & a playful look; the interiors also follow a similar approach. The material palette comprising of teakwood finish & light colours helps in providing a neat, clean & a spacious ambience.
